Choose useful over impressive.

Being impressive asks how something will look. Being useful asks what the moment actually needs.

Sometimes useful is listening without preparing your answer. Sometimes it is showing up on time, making the introduction, or doing the unglamorous job nobody else noticed.

There is nothing wrong with doing excellent work. Just make sure the applause is not the only reason the work matters.
