Coaching on the show
Some people are willing to let their session be recorded for The Mark Hope Show, so that a stranger somewhere hears their own situation said out loud and understands they are not the only one. It is entirely optional, and nothing is ever recorded unless you ask for it.
Private is the default
If you never mention this page, nothing about your coaching is recorded, published, quoted or repeated. That is true for everyone who writes in, and it is true without you having to ask. There is nothing here to opt out of.
Why anyone says yes
Because someone listening might be sitting in exactly the same spot. A person who would never write to a stranger will hear somebody else say the hard thing out loud, and something shifts. That is the whole reason the option exists — it isn't for the show, and it isn't for me.
You can change your mind at any point
Before we record. In the middle of recording. After it's finished but before it airs. And after it has aired: if you write to me a year later and ask me to take it down, I take it down. You don't need to give a reason, and there is no deadline on it.
First name only
Your last name is never used in the episode, the title, or the show notes. Plenty of people take part as just a first name.
Audio only
You never have to be on camera. Voice only is fine, and so is voice with a still image in place of you.
Details changed
Employers, towns, jobs, the people around you — we can alter or leave out anything that would make you findable.
When I'll say no
Even if you offer, I won't record a session I think could cost you something later — with an employer, a family, a court, or your own peace of mind. Same answer if you're in the middle of a crisis. I would much rather lose an episode than have you regret one.
The other people in your story
Your husband, your boss, your brother — none of them agreed to anything. If we record, I'll ask you to keep them unnamed and unrecognisable, and if we slip, that part comes out before anyone hears it.
What this doesn't change
- It's still free. Agreeing to be recorded buys you nothing, and declining costs you nothing.
- You won't be asked twice. If you say no, or say nothing at all, the subject is closed.
- You don't get seen sooner, or get a better version of me, for saying yes.
- Everything else on this site still applies: this is coaching, not therapy, counseling, diagnosis or treatment, and not legal, medical or financial advice.
Before anything is published
We'll put what we agreed in plain writing first — what gets used, what stays out, and what name you're going by. That isn't there to tie you down; you can still pull out afterwards. It's there so neither of us is guessing about what the other one meant.
If you're in crisis right now, this page isn't the thing to be thinking about. Contact emergency services or a crisis line in your area rather than waiting on an email reply. In the US, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, any time.
If you're interested
Say so when you write in — there's a box for it on the Get Started page, or you can just mention it in your message. Ticking it commits you to nothing. It only tells me it's worth a conversation once we know each other a little.
